Buying or Renting a Violin/Viola
The studio prides itself on being an almost 100% exclusive Day Violin studio. This means that almost all students' violins (and even the teacher's instruments) are from this superb violin shop! To help continue to maintain the high level of tone quality in the studio, it is a studio requirement that all student instruments be purchased from Day Violins. These violins continue to be the best investment not only financially, but in terms of being conducive to the high level of technical and tonal development that the teacher demands from the students' instruments. If your violin is not a Day Violin, be sure to have your teacher evaluate the quality of your instrument before beginning lessons to ensure that your student's violin will measure up to studio expectations and not retard your student's progress.
Buying a violin is the preferred choice, because violins appreciate in value. Renting an instrument is an option too, but there is no guarantee that you will like what you are sent.
BUYING
If purchasing your student's instrument, the studio personally recommends Day Violins in Murray, Utah. (They also have a generous trade-in policy on their instruments!) It is recommended that you visit their shop and try the instruments out before purchasing if possible, but if you are unable to travel to Utah, they can easily select a fabulous instrument for you!
